Everyone loves a neighborhood parade, and our little hometown does its best every year on Independence Day. Our friends Matt and Tiff joined us again this year, along with their three little ones...favorite playmates of Boo and Sugar as you can see below.
.
Olivia and Boo off to the show. A rare peaceful moment between them as their favorite thing to do is boss each other around most of the time.
.
Found a good spot, now hurry up and start!
.
Matt, Tiff and little Gabe...or Mini Matt as we all like to call him.
.
Here comes one of the first marching bands...the cubs FAVORITE part.
.
Boo declared he wanted one of these and...
.
...Mama declared she wanted one of these.
.
Ooops...traffic jam!
.
Sugar taking it all in from her favorite spot.
.
Couldn't you just eat him up?!!!
.
And finally, these two always bring up the end, just before the big fire trucks. As they passed by, Boo turned to me with a shocked look on his face and said, "Dem dink a WOT of muk, Mama?!" Referencing my subversive tactics to get him to drink his soymilk...so he'll grow up strong and tall. Heh, heh.
.
Then, back to our place for lunch outside...Captain grilled out and it was delish!
.
July also held Sister's baby shower, which I helped co-host in her hometown. While there, I also got to go with her to a scheduled doc visit and got my first live peek at the little man during an impromptu sonogram, just for me. A sweet surprise, to be sure. Coincidentally, she is in the hospital this very day giving birth to little August! When I talked to her a couple of hours ago, she wanted me to know that the world is a beautiful place, and its beauty is spelled: E-P-I-D-U-R-A-L. You just keep on pushing, Seesta. I'll be the one kissing his face and burying my nose in the crook of his chubby little neck. [Update: Mom and babe are home and snuggling!]
.
Here's the glowing Mama. Goodness...isn't she lovely!
.
And look at that delicious baby bump. The food looks good too, eh?
.
Darling little basket of goodies for my nephew-to-be. Ride 'em cowboy!
.
We said goodbye to a part of our family in July too...Boo's beloved binkies. Never thought we'd see the day, but as interest began to dwindle in recent weeks, we jumped on the chance to have our first visit from the Binky Fairy...THANK YOU SuperNanny for the idea!
.
Here's our little tool-man checking out his loot from the Fairy herself.
.
Daddy, showing him how to look like a professional. You should see him now...everytime Captain gets out his tools, Boo is sure to disappear up to his room for his box and comes right back to provide any needed assistance.
.
It was a big month for the little man, as July is also his birthday. We had already planned the cub's dual party for August, but since his big day fell on our monthly Family Night (for local families that have adopted from Ethiopia), we brought cupcakes to celebrate with our friends too.
.
I'm 1...2...3...4 now!!!
.
We love you, Buddyboo! Oh, and yes, apparently I only own one shirt. What a ninny.
.
So in the end...
.
lots of fun in the sun
.
and good times
.
were had by all...
.
most of the time.
